Made to Match "Delilah Bedding" by Cocalo

I had so much fun painting this mod chic nursery this morning for parents -to -be Casey and Tracy. The room is now ready for little Chloe Ann to arrive in just a few weeks. This room was already screaming with class with the wonderful bedding by Cocalo (Delilah) and the tasteful tow-tone paint job done by Dad. Tracy wanted a little more pizzazz to bring everything together so that's where I came in. I added the color-blocks to the main wall above the crib and painted in some of the beautiful vine and florals from the bedding. I also added a few dragonflies and butterflies on the opposing wall to balance everything. Oh, and I just love the little vases with just the slightest pop of red daisies that hang beside the windows. I love this room!!

Carla's Room

Ok, so I'm finding all these old photos that I forgot I even took and Blogger is uploading fast. I'm on a roll....

Custom Nursery

A little over a year ago...I think...maybe longer, I had the pleasure of meeting Teresa, mother of Lana and very proud grandmother of little Maya. I was asked to paint a set of canvases to coordinate with the bedding and window treatments. The fabrics used were by Covington-Topsy Turvy Monkey Toile Design. Lana did a wonderful job of designing this nursery! I absolutley love the sophisticated colors, the iron crib, and the overall non-traditional style of the room. Thanks to Abby of Abby Caroline Mims Photography (who just happens to be little Maya's Aunt) for sharing this awesome photo. Abby is an incredibly talented professional photographer with a beautiful portfolio. Check out her work here
Below are some up-close pics of the canvases I created along with a clip of the fabric inspiration.

Monkey Wall Art Mural Made 2 Match Kimberly Grant Crib Bedding

This is a nursery I painted last year to coordinate with the Kimberly Grant "Kaleidiscope" crib bedding. The monkeys are painted on the wall and the letters were painted onto round stretched canvas to mimic the colorful circles on the bedding.

Hand-Painted Canvas with Monogram

Thanks to Amy W. for sending in these photos of her daughter's room. I did some decorative painting a few years back in this room and just last week I touched up a few colors to match the new decor. We also added the hand-painted monogram canvas by Moi (Me). Amy did a fantastic job at decorating and planning this room (both times) and in this time in about a 1-2 days she had it finished!! Way to go Mom! Looks like Olivia is enjoying the new view.

I'm so excited about it. It has been a lot of work and wait, but the wait is finally paying off. Stay tuned for more information, hopefully soon!!! I added a photo of one of my new Hair Bow Holders that I created about 4 months ago (so I could see if I remember how to upload a photo). Yay!! I can still do it.

Happy Father's Day

Hey Daddy. Well as is about par for me, I missed the deadline with the old postmaster to get your gift in the mail on time for Father' Day. So, I have been sitting here at my computer for what seems like hours trying to post a video from YouTube especially for you. You would have loved it, however, for some reason I cannot get it to post to my blog. Another day to learn about that. I wanted to show the world part of what I love about you.
There are many, many things that I could mention but I won't share them all. My dad is one of the very best quitarists that I have ever heard. I wanted to play this video of my daddy's favorite guitarist "Doyle Dykes". You can see it at this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_pX2iwsYWw I have always loved sitting around and listening to my daddy play his guitar. He taught himself to play when he was about 14 yrs old and has always given glory to God for his talents. He has even built several beautiful and ingeniously designed guitars by hand. My dad has also written an incredible memory course, part of which instructs individuals to memorize and recall the 4 "Gospels" in the Bible. By the way, you can check out his books and course online at http://www.BibleInstantRecall.com. He likes to tell good jokes, cooks great BBQ, sings well, does some great impressions (the best one "Crazy Googenheim"), a great painter (I think that's where I got that talent), a good listener, excellent minister and public speaker, a good husband -I think, he even made a "Tang" cake when we were little- some of you probably don't even know what "Tang" is. He loves Jesus and has devoted most of entire adult life pastoring churches and sharing God's love. But very best of all, He's always been a great "Daddy".
Love You Daddy,
Happy Father's Day

Adelily Festival

Our town held its 2nd Annual "Adelily Festival" this past weekend. We had a great time seeing all of the vendors and their wares in our small town. Below is a picture of our friend, Mrs. Evelyn McCranie. She is our "Daylily Festival Queen". Evelyn is our queen because about 3 years ago she named our town its very fitting name "The City of Daylilies". I really think its because she's such a fun, outgoing, doing anything for anyone at anytime kind of gal- but ok, maybe its because of the name founding thing. Anyway, I love her and she has been a blessing to me and my family over the past 3 years that I have known her and I just wanted you to meet her.

I chose this daylily out of hundreds in the show because of its rareity. It is a Polly Steeple type of Daylily and is called "Colonel Scarboro". It is special because of its number of petals. It has 8 petals and most daylilies have only 6.

Adelily Festival

I was thrilled to meet this artist at our town's festival. Her name is Dottie Sinclair. Wow, what a small world-she just lives about 1 mile from me. She creates beautiful little watercolor paintings that make you want to jump right in them. You can see one of them in the post below-but it looks even better in person. Most of them are tropical or beach themed in all of my favorite colors. We purchased one of her painted fish wall hangings which we all love. They are just adorable, whimsical pieces of art that are painted from the (bark?) of a palm tree. I can't quite remember what those crazy things were called, but it looks to me like she peeled a palm tree and painted the peelings to look like fish-how clever!!

Adelily Festival

This is sweet little Aspen who was one of my art students this year. She and her mom Diedra were perusing the festival and looking cool in their shades. Believe me, that may have been the only sign of "cool" this day---IT WAS SCORCHING HOT!!!!

"Maci's Little Baby"

Just finished this simple little mural for Baby Brady (Maci's little brother). Maci who is 2 and just as cute as a button, borrowed a few of my books for mom to read to her while I was painting. It was fun to see her response when she saw the dragonflies being painted on the wall. When I was finished she said "Here's your books, now go home! Out of the mouth of babes!!! Love em'.

Chocolate Soup

While on Spring Break last week I stumbled upon the most adorable little shop that I wanted to share with everyone. Below is a picture of the owner/artist, Linda Lee Smith. She calls her delicious little studio "Chocolate Soup"- A Ceramics Bakery and Studio. She offers unique bisqueware that you can paint yourself , group parties with personalized instruction and custom design services. The studio is located in beautiful Fernandina, Florida. If you're ever there, you just have to stop in. I could have spent the day there looking at all the pretties. I ordered 2 custom flowers that she designed. You can see them in the photo of Eli by the window box. You can also order online at

Toy Boxes

Well, Chris built some great new toy boxes for me to paint. Thought you might want to check them out.

This one was a custom order from our little French Market space
at "The Limelight" in Thomasville, Georgia.

Now, I take no claim on this artwork. I custom painted it to match a fabric by Kelly Rightsell Designs. Love her stuff! I painted it for "Toads & Teacups" children's shop in Valdosta, Georgia.

This is my favorite thus far! I love the robin's egg blue color with the greens and just a touch of chocolate brown and wheat colors. I have an entire nursery designed around this box (its in my mind. If you're interested, let me know and I'll share the ideas.)

These toy boxes are very well built and very safe for your little ones. Let us know if you would like one, and we can create one for you. We have them priced reasonably at $295.00 for our designs and $325.00 for custom designs.

The "Shawl Girls"

Here's a pic of my friend, Claire and myself in our new "toll road great buy gotta get one cause it's only $10 store" shawls. I also got a hot pink purse and a big hot pink bag (a little old snootie lady walked by and said "I like your bag- but, its a knock-off"). Hey, for $10 what can ya expect? I don't even know what its a knock-off of!

Priority One Cruise

We were so blessed to be able to spend last week on a cruise with about 85 couples from around the country. We met many new couples this year and enjoyed getting to know each one. We were especially privileged to meet Dr. & Mrs. Lazarus Chakwera from Africa. What an amazing testimony they have.
Thanks so much to Sam & Joyce Johnson for inviting us. We love this ministry!

Hi everyone! We just returned from a great Thanksgiving getaway with our families. What a wonderful time! Now Chris is headed back to Alabama for a hunting trip. Hope he gets the "Big Buck" this time. Back to the drawing board for me. Yes, more painting. I will be getting ready for 1 more festival for the year- The Jingle Bell Festival in Valdosta, Georgia. Bet its going to be cold. We had some great festivals this year. I'll try to post some photos later.
